Depression and Anxiety || Meet Me in the Middle, Episode 2

Depression and Anxiety || Meet Me in the Middle, Episode 2

It may not be the easiest or happiest subject to talk about, but depression and its ugly friend, anxiety, are all too real for so many of us. Unfortunately, the stigma and embarrassment encircling the topic often still remains and causes many to feel isolated and alone in their struggle. However, talking about it can release some of the power it has over us so in this episode, we welcome back Shaquila Willie to have real conversations about her own journey–as well as our own– through the middle of this dark place we call depression and anxiety.

According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

– 1 in 5 US adults experience mental illness each year
– 1 in 25 U.S. adults experience serious mental illness each year
– 1 in 6 U.S. youth aged 6-17 experience mental health disorder each year
– Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among people aged 10-34

In our episode, 3 out of 3 of us have suffered. Friends, that’s real and personal. Join the conversation as we share our stories of hope in the middle of this mess we call depression and anxiety.

If you or someone you love need help, please call the NAMI helpline @ 800-950-6264 or visit their website @ https://nami.org/ to learn more.

May God use this to bring hope to the middle of your story.  You are not alone.  We are holding on to each other as Jesus is holding on to us.

My kids tease me sometimes that my definition of a situation going well is often described as, "It was 'life-giving' " -- meaning, it may have had some conflicts or uneasy moments or stress but all in all , something about it breathed life into the situation and the people involved...something of the heart was moved in a good direction. I'm all about LIFE ... life with my husband, life with 4 adult children, their spouses and 7 grandchildren (to date, that is :), life in our home and life in a wild adventure we tend to label "ministry". In reality , all of these categories mesh together to make up the "organic me". Relational , redeeming and restoring are some of my favorite words and they give life to my soul as I walk it all out with Jesus Christ, the Giver of all life. Profile Photo by: Melody Martin
