Looking for Direction?

Looking for Direction?

I have a confession to make.  I. Love. My. Google. Maps. GPS App!  It’s like having a good  friend in the car with me telling where to go without me stressing over looking at a map or squinting to see street signs.  “She” just tells me the next turn at the 1/4 mile mark and lets me know if the way is clear and when I should reach my destination.  Life. Is. Good!  I even use my Google maps navigation  around town to find new ways to “arrive at my destination” !  I don’t want to deal with a bunch of sheets of paper with directions printed on them.  I’d rather jump in my truck , push a button and hear “her” voice say, “Head east on Loren Drive …the way is clear and you should  arrive at your destination by 3:30 p.m.”!   (Don’t judge me! 😉 )

Wouldn’t it be great if  there were signs   and clear signals  that told you exactly where to go in life?  What decision to make?  Move here?  or there? What career should I choose? Church?–mega with mega programs or smaller, more organic in nature?  Relationships?   What about voting?  political candidates?  Health questions?  Financial decisions?  God’s will?

How awesome life would be if there were arrows pointing you in the right direction!

But how will I trust the arrows?  the voices?  the signs?  Will I see them in time?   Will I get distracted and miss something important?

“Show me the right path, O Lord;

point out the road for me to follow.

Lead me by Your truth and teach me,

for You are the God who saves me.

All day long I put my hope in You.”

Psalm 25:4-5 (NLT)

Oh God …Help our anxious hearts to surrender — to yield — to “give way” (as they say on the Australian road).  Give us eyes to see the truth You have marked out for us...the path  You have set before us.  Show us Your ways.  Reveal any sin or offense that is tripping us up and  lead us in the way everlasting.

Open the path before us to a spacious place to receive refreshing and healing and  give us the courage to take the next step.  Wash over us with Your grace and truth  and guide us with Your Almighty hand.  Holy Spirit,  anoint us with power and love and a sound mind.  Help us to trust Your gracious hand and hear Your voice above all other voices.  And let Your voice be heard through us to help others along this road of life –pointing them to the Savior …the Redeemer of our souls …the Giver of all Life– Jesus Christ.

My kids tease me sometimes that my definition of a situation going well is often described as, "It was 'life-giving' " -- meaning, it may have had some conflicts or uneasy moments or stress but all in all , something about it breathed life into the situation and the people involved...something of the heart was moved in a good direction. I'm all about LIFE ... life with my husband, life with 4 adult children, their spouses and 8 grandchildren (to date, that is :), life in our home and life in a wild adventure we tend to label "ministry". In reality , all of these categories mesh together to make up the "organic me". Relational , redeeming and restoring are some of my favorite words and they give life to my soul as I walk it all out with Jesus Christ, the Giver of all life. Profile Photo by: Melody Martin

      Faith … I’m a “behind-the-scenes” writer of encouragement mostly … I’m just nutty enough to put it out there 😉 …Thanks for reading and — ahem … now that you’ve set up a wordpress acct. to comment …maybe that will be a catalyst for you to put the life-giving words you’ve been given out there as well 🙂 Write, my friend! Write !

    Much needed reminder Joy. And I just love the Aussies term “give way”.

      Thanks, Marie. Yes! When I saw that sign, I knew it would be used somehow to speak truth 🙂 .

Go for it! Leave a comment. :-)
